Inspiration for the hotel and spa industry: the SpaCamp "SummerCamp" 2022

Bar ohne Namen

It was a special premiere: From June 27 to 29, the SpaCamp "SummerCamp" 2022 took place for the first time at the tranquil Hotel Panorama Royal in Bad Häring, Tyrol. The motto of this highlight event for the spa industry was "Joy Unleashes Talent". FIBO was also part of the event. The world's leading trade show for fitness, wellness and health has been a trusted partner of SpaCamp for several years and actively promotes an exchange with the hotel, wellness and spa industry.

FIBO represented with its own session

The SpaCamp "SummerCamp" offered an optimal mix of inspiring sessions, top-class impulses and a colorful supporting program. From the topics submitted, participants were able to vote for their favorites and thus actively shape the session schedule with a total of 14 topics. The answers to the questions were discussed together and approaches to solutions were developed. FIBO was also represented with its own session on "The importance of fitness and health for the hotel and wellness industry".

Here, the participants exchanged views on customer needs, new health and fitness concepts in hotels and sustainable service quality in this segment in a very active and intensive round.

Simon Bens, Customer Experience Manager FIBO: "FIBO continues to develop into one of the most interesting industry meetings for hoteliers and wellness/spa operators. This was again confirmed at the Summercamp by numerous participants. Physical and mental fitness are now an integral part of many people's everyday lives, and they don't want to do without them even on vacation or during business trips."

Inspiration and a lot of fun

For organizer Wolfgang Falkner, the SpaCamp "SummerCamp" 2022 was an all-around successful event: "It is impossible to summarize all the experiences and the variety of topics in a few sentences. If I had to describe the first SummerCamp with three hashtags, I would say: #freude #inspiration and #spafamily. Joy because our motto 'joy unleashes talents' was really tangible. I haven't seen so many smiling people in one place for a long time. Inspiration, because the combination of impulses and sessions, paired with a moving framework program at a special place of power with a far-reaching view simply inspires. And Spa Family, because it was easy to see that the cohesion and openness are simply even stronger in a somewhat smaller group."

Fitness is becoming more and more important in the hotel and spa industry

This is also emphasized by Thomas Kolaric, Managing Director of DEHOGA Nordrhein e. V.: „If someone had said to us just a few years ago: Why don't you go to FIBO - then we - coming from the hospitality industry - would have stopped short. Why? But: FIBO also promises many new opportunities for the hotel industry, which are worth exploring here, for example:

- new revenue models

- alternative business areas

- niche topics

Especially a visit to the show should prove it to our members that especially the fitness boom is a huge opportunity. Because: The fitness sector is a huge and fast growing market. Germany, for example, is one of the European countries with the highest turnover in the fitness industry.

More and more hoteliers are increasing the satisfaction of their health-conscious hotel guests by surprising them with a modern, well-equipped sports room and a varied range of training options. A new and modern equipped fitness room can positively impact not only the overall satisfaction of hotel guests, but also occupancy as well as revenue. That's one of many thoughts hoteliers can bring to their properties, and maybe one or two will find their right mix of equipment at FIBO."

"After our last visit to FIBO, we are completely convinced that this world's largest trade show of its kind is an absolute must for the hotel and spa industry. When it comes to innovations from the fitness industry, in the wellness sector and in the increasingly important health segment, the latest trends, equipment and applications can be found here. In particular, the Hotel Industry Day is an enormously important day for us for the inspiring exchange with experts and colleagues. We took away an incredible number of new impressions and are already looking forward to the next FIBO in 2023," emphasizes Jacqueline Schaffrath, Head of Hotel Guides Print & Digital My Tophotel.

Lutz Hertel, Executive Chairmen of the German Wellness Association adds: „Good fitness, healthy nutrition, competent handling of stress, mindfulness towards people and nature: all this has always been part of the actual meaning of wellness and goes far beyond massage and cosmetics. Wellness is an effective, healthy lifestyle and not just a bit of relaxation. More and more people understand this at the latest since the Corona pandemic, and the wellness and spa industry should urgently update its range accordingly. For me, FIBO is currently the only significant trade show that can bring these aspects together in one place.“

The CampCompany Managing Director Wolfgang Falkner is also convinced of the importance of FIBO as a key industry meeting place for the hotel and spa sector: "As the organizer of SpaCamp, FIBO is an important meeting place for me in the spring to meet industry colleagues and exchange ideas about new trends. The hotel spa is becoming more and more holistic and it's great to see how wellness, beauty, health, fitness and mindset are converging more and more. We can learn a lot from each other."

Hotel Industry Day at FIBO 2023

On Thursday, April 13, 2023, FIBO will be all about the hotel industry. Trade visitors can look forward to numerous exciting lectures, expert talks and discussion panels, in which experts will address the challenges and opportunities in the hotel industry and present new approaches to solutions. Many of the concepts presented there can be used as best practice for one's own establishment or serve as a fresh spark for ideas. The program will be supplemented by a variety of live platforms for presentation and dialog - such as special areas and forums as well as guided tours for hoteliers. In addition, visitors will find exciting new products and innovations from the areas of fitness, wellness and health for good positioning in the market.
