Featuring the Future of Fitness: FIBO 2019 showcases global innovations
The Future of Fitness at FIBO 2019
See today which trends are on the horizon for tomorrow. Discover innovations. Generate leads. FIBO 2019 offers the world’s biggest ranges for the Fitness, Wellness and Health segments. From 4 to 7 April, it brings together key players and newcomers, entrepreneurs, experts and trainers.
“Featuring the Future of Fitness – this sums up what FIBO, more than any event worldwide, is all about,” says Silke Frank, FIBO Event Director, and goes on to say: “There is no other hub in the world that shows our industry in a more comprehensive way.” This year will see exhibitors from five continents and a completely re-visited programme of side events open up new avenues. 2019 will also see the kick-off to the FIBO CAMPUS; this accompanying congress offers all groups of visitors to FIBO valuable input for their businesses.
Key and up-and-coming players
Some 1,100 exhibitors from 47 countries have announced their participation at FIBO 2019 including household names such as eGym, gym80, IronMaxx, Johnson Health Tech., Les Mills, Life Fitness, Ludwig Artzt, miha bodytec, Olimp, Precor, Technogym, Transatlantic Fitness or XBody. They are the face of FIBO in many ways. However, there are also many young companies synonymous with FIBO. Visitors can look forward to just under 250 new exhibitors from a wide variety of segments.
Be they old hands or young guns: the international fitness industry at FIBO focuses on innovations. Serving as a symbol for this is the FIBO Innovation & Trend Award, which has made trendsetting products for the fitness, wellness and health industry the centre of attraction for 20 years now. This year sees a record-breaking 294 exhibitors compete for the award with their innovations.
Fitness trends 2019: holistic, digital and personalised
With its exhibitors, FIBO mirrors the most important trends in the sector. Awaiting visitors will be many solutions for up-to-date training spaces that are digitally connected and customisable. The integration of Apps and wearables, entertainment, competition and self-monitoring provides key competitive edge and is of great interest to people working out. Just like holistic well-being with a strong focus on a healthy and fitness-promoting diet. At FIBO, an ever-greater range of fitness food and healthy nutrition reflects this trend.
Health in focus
As before, medical fitness and corporate health management also play a pivotal role at FIBO. FIBO’s stronger focus on health themes is reflected in Hall 7, which is all about health. Here, the world’s biggest overview of device-based training therapy can be found. Especially wide is the range of equipment with MPG certification, which forms the basis for working with patients in rehabilitation, therapy and prevention. By offering its “Meetingpoint Physio” FIBO also creates a valuable platform for continuous education and networking.
New Business Area
The fitness industry is growing, as is the number of start-ups. FIBO promotes young entrepreneurs with a special exhibition area and numerous expert lectures. In cooperation with the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control, the German Franchise Association, and the AXA Startup Center, the New Business Area shows what successful start-ups look like, which first steps to take, and what a good business plan should look like. Furthermore, successful start-ups are in focus. On Thursday and Saturday DSSV will be organising two seminars, each on “start-ups”. And the Sunday at FIBO will see the AXA Startup Center organise its own pitch. Wanted: the best start-up at FIBO 2019.
Franchising as a success formula
Bodystreet, Fitbox, Körperformen or Stimawell EMS: numerous successful franchise systems will be showcased in Hall 5.2 of FIBO. In the New Business Area, franchising is a special focus theme, too. Here various franchisors such as Altipeak, Easyfitness, or Vegisan will introduce their concepts. Furthermore, the benefits and challenges of franchise systems will be covered in lectures. All questions can also be directed to the German Franchise Association that will be on hand with advice in Hall 8.
More business at the weekend: FIBO offers trade visitors even more side events and more services over the weekend. Alongside the extensive programme at the FIBO CAMPUS, there will be the EMS Symposium as well as the DSSV Start-Up Seminar on Saturday, the AXA Start-Up Pitch on Sunday and Guided Tours on all days.
To grant trade visitors faster access we offer a special service called “Fast Lanes” at the South and Nord entrances. Furthermore, there is a limited number of parking spaces reserved exclusively for trade visitors in the immediate vicinity of Koelnmesse.
More orientation, more networking, more business
2019 will see FIBO organise free Guided Tours on themes like Cardio & Strength, Physio, Sports Nutrition, Hotel & Wellness, Start-ups and Group Fitness for the first time. The stops along these tours include selected companies and special areas on all days of the trade show. The tour takes approx. one hour and is accompanied by expert tour guides.
FIBO Matchmaking provides visitors and exhibitors with additional support for networking. With this online platform, potential business partners can be found easily and appointments can be made right at the trade show at no charge. The Networking Lounge is located in Hall 5.2 right at the entrance to the hall.
Wellness worlds at FIBO
Wellness is understood as a holistic lifestyle that today comprises dimensions such as fitness, nutrition, recreation, stress relief and social inclusion. This is precisely why Hall 8 is a vital component of FIBO flagging up the interfaces between fitness, wellness and health for all parties involved – club operators, physiotherapists, spas, hotel operators and people in charge of corporate health management.
The central point of contact is the Wellness Competence Centre in Hall 8. Here the experts of the German Wellness Association will provide advice on spa, hospitality, physiotherapy and fitness on all four days of the trade show. The newly conceived Wellness Forum also presents lectures about trends, applications as well as valuable technical information from the wellness, spa and sauna segments.
FIBO CAMPUS: individual continuous education for the sector
FIBO CAMPUS is the concurrent congress for the trade show offering a personalised and comprehensive continuous education programme with a total of 13 thematic tracks for different groups of target visitors. Participants can put together highly personalised schedules since one ticket will get them into all the seminars, lectures, courses and panels. The sector’s top speakers and instructors will address such themes as corporate health management, physiotherapy, functional workout, human resources or nutrition.
FIBO is the world’s largest international trade fair for fitness, wellness and health: the industry’s key players come together here in Cologne. This is where innovations are launched. This is where international trends are set. This is where the industry comes to invest. 1,133 companies participated in 2018, meeting over 143,000 trade and private visitors from 120 countries. FIBO is scheduled to take place at the Exhibition Centre in Cologne from 4 to 7 April in 2019. Kicking off the trade show on 3 April will be the 6th European Health & Fitness Forum, expected to attract 400 leading representatives from the European fitness sector.
