The leading international EMS suppliers are in the starting gate to conquer the world’s largest fitness market: FIBO USA will serve as the launch pad for such companies as miha bodytec, xBody, StimaWELL EMS and visionbody. While EMS training has succeeded in leaving its niche market in Germany and parts of Europe, its presence is limited in the USA. FIBO is once again proving to be a game changer. In December 2018, EMS training will celebrate its debut at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida
At FIBO USA miha bodytec will be exhibiting at a trade show in America for the first time. The premium manufacturer headquartered in the Bavarian town of Gersthofen is a pioneer in this sector and supplier of all relevant studio concepts worldwide. When miha bodytec was established in 2007, EMS training was largely unknown. Today, EMS is becoming increasingly mainstream. Departing from Germany miha bodytec would like to establish EMS personal training globally as a recognized and forward-looking form of training and therapy. The next step: the USA. “FIBO USA 2018 also marks the start of the distribution and marketing activities of our US subsidiary, which will install additional sales bases in America beginning December 5,” says Jürgen Decker of miha bodytec explaining his company’s expansion plans.
XBody is also introducing itself to the American market for the first time. The company is already doing business in 55 countries today, and more than 3,000 clubs are equipped with XBody Whole-Body EMS systems including clubs in Canada and Central and South America. “We are looking forward to launching our products in the US market. Our goal is to show American fitness professionals, personal trainers, gym managers and investors why XBody devices and concepts are so very popular and successful all over the world” says Csaba Nyers, CEO at XBody.
To Philipp Akguezel, Sales Director at StimaWELL EMS, the crucial motivations are to boost recognition levels and find distributors: “Our participation in FIBO USA is aimed at finding one or more exclusive distributors for our StimaWell systems for the North-American market.” Under the umbrella brand StimaWell we find the StimaWell EMS whole-body EMS system, the StimaWell Relax and/or MTRS electrical-stimulation mat for treating back pain and StimaWell FaceTime for reducing facial wrinkles, also based on electrical current and hyaluronic acid. “Needless to say, we also want to introduce ourselves to the US market with this trade show participation and make ourselves known as a German medical device manufacturer,” Akguezel adds.
Market Opportunities in the USA
There are good prospects of getting a foot in the door of the American fitness market. “The American EMS market is virtually a blank page. We see enormous potential for our devices Made in Germany,” says Akguezel of StimaWell EMS. And xbody also rates the business opportunities as absolutely positive. “It is truly exciting to launch a European product and training method in the USA, which is undoubtedly the cradle of the most popular fitness trends in the world,” explains Balázs Füzessy, CEO at XBody, and goes on to say: “We are confident that EMS will soon be very popular in the American market.” After all, he adds, it is brief, efficient and effective at the same time.” Opening a studio or integrating EMS into an existing gym’s portfolio requires less time and investment than other businesses in the fitness industry, so we are really looking forward to entering the US market.” Jürgen Decker of miha bodytec emphasises that personal training is widespread in the USA and the population highly open-minded for all things new. “This means ideal prerequisites for the development of an EMS market. Thanks to the over 10 years of experience we have acquired in EMS and the corresponding resources we feel perfectly positioned for this,” concludes Decker.
Training and Business: FIBO USA provides information revolving around EMS
Apart from presenting products the event is designed to explain EMS as a training format on the American market and to counteract negative associations. This requires education based on the numerous studies and empirical data available especially on the German market. At FIBO USA the EMS exhibitors will present insights about the benefits of this training at the Speakers Forum of the trade show. In addition to this, club operators and founders will share their expert know-how. One of them is Matthias Lehner of Bodystreet. Lehner is one of the pioneers for EMS studios and has established the Bodystreet concept together with his wife Emma. Founded in 2007, Bodystreet now counts in excess of 37,000 members. At FIBO USA he will deliver a talk about the Bodystreet franchise system and the success formula of micro-studios as part of the AHFF (American Health & Fitness Forum).
From Cologne to Shanghai, Johannesburg and America: FIBO is expanding its global reach and is present with activities on the target markets. FIBO in Cologne is the world’s largest trade show for fitness, wellness and health attracting some 1,000 exhibitors and 150,000 visitors to Germany. Here innovations are introduced to the market. This is where international trends are set and where the industry invests. Since 2014 FIBO China has been the central meeting point for the Asian fitness industry. In 2017 the first FIBO FITNESS BUSINESS SUMMIT SOUTH AFRICA “joined the fray” in Johannesburg. 2018 sees the launch of FIBO USA.
