20 percent more visitors at FIBO CHINA 2018
FIBO CHINA 2018
From four to twenty-four thousand visitors in five years: FIBO CHINA continues to be on course for growth. From 16 to 18 August 24,706 visitors came to the National Exhibitions and Conference Center in Shanghai, to see the innovations from some 350 brands. This corresponds to a 20 percent increase over the previous year. In 2014, the trade show kicked off with 4,238 visitors and has developed into the most important meeting point for the international fitness industry in Asia over the past few years. For the organisation of the trade show, the international industry expertise of FIBO organiser Reed Exhibitions Germany was once again paired with the Asian market knowledge of Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions.
“Business and enthusiasm – FIBO CHINA is convincing in more ways than one. For a growing number of companies this trade show serves as a door opener to the Chinese market. Also noticeable in the halls was the passion the Chinese population is developing for fitness providing an additional impetus for the industry,” says Hans-Joachim Erbel, CEO of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland. The mixture of top brands in the international fitness industry with local producers, club operators and distributors proved perfect. Exhibiting companies included the industry giants Technogym, Matrix, Precor, Life Fitness, Sports Art, DHZ Fitness, Miha Bodytec, X-body, Ironmaxx and Olimp, to name but a few. The EMS segment experienced especially strong growth at FIBO CHINA this year.
This year’s FIBO CHINA also received tailwinds from the new cooperation with the IDEA Health & Fitness Association that organised its Global Fitness Summit parallel to the trade show. IDEA currently looks after more than 250,000 training instructors and over 10,000 clubs in dozens of countries around the globe. It took 29 master trainers to FIBO CHINA thereby making the trade show a top-notch continuous education event for trainers.
The trade show’s programme of supporting events as a whole convinced the audience with targeted content for club operators, investors, managers, trainers and instructors while also bringing numerous top speakers of the international fitness industry to Shanghai. Centrestage was the FIBO CHINA Academy with its “Fitness Industry Future Development Summit Forum”, complemented by numerous sub-forums on the topics of Rehabilitation, Nutrition, Female Leadership, Management, Marketing, Retail, Pools, Youth Physical Fitness, Human Resources, Finance, Science and Technology as well as other club management matters. Here the trade show cooperated with international club chains, training institutes, associations and the media to address the latest insights and topics affecting the industry on the panel. EuropeActive, for example, published the Chinese version of the industry study "Human Capital in the Fitness Sector" containing a host of recommendations and tips from experts, enterprises plus best practice advice. The aim is to move the human factor more into management focus. Altogether, FIBO CHINA saw ten conferences, 102 conventions and eleven competitions covering all areas of the fitness industry.
“Reed Sinopharm is the leading organizer of the health industry. The fitness and wellness industry is developing and changing the lifestyles to a healthy way by delivering international hi-tech products, advanced education to professionals and international Key Opinion Leaders to give Chinese operators valuable content,” says Hu Kunping, Managing Director of Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, concluding this year’s trade show. The Chinese market boasts high growth potential. Less than one percent of the population are members of a fitness club but in megacities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Chengdu or Chongqing penetration rates have already gone up to 5%. There are some 40,000 clubs in China.
FIBO CHINA 2019 will be held in Shanghai from 22 to 24 August.
From Cologne to Shanghai, Johannesburg and the American East Coast: FIBO is expanding its global reach and is present with activities on the target markets. FIBO in Cologne is the world’s biggest trade show for fitness, wellness and health attracting some 1,000 exhibitors and 150,000 visitors to Germany. Here innovations are introduced to the market. This is where international trends are set and where the industry invests. Since 2014, FIBO China has been the central meeting point for the Asian fitness industry. In 2017 the first FIBO FITNESS BUSINESS SUMMIT SOUTH AFRICA “joined the fray” in Johannesburg. 2018 sees the launch of FIBO USA.
