FIBO 2020: Safety Measures have been finalised

23 June 2020
 |

1 to 3 October will see FIBO kick off with comprehensive hygiene and safety measures. These were worked out by organiser Reed Exhibitions in cooperation with the competent federal state institutions, authorities and Koelnmesse. In North Rhine-Westphalia holding trade shows subject to specific protection concepts has already been permitted since 30 May. This means FIBO can be held as planned as a “Business Edition” – i.e. exclusively as a trade show and excluding public visitors. Measures to be undertaken include state-of-the-art guidance systems, enlarged areas and a correspondingly adapted number of visitors as well as gapless contact tracing.

“The new set-up of FIBO and the extensive hygiene measures that we can now present, ensure the safety of all parties involved,” says Silke Frank, Event Director of FIBO, commenting on the set of measures and adds: “Now our exhibitors can start focusing on concrete planning and stand construction, while we are already finalising the allocation of our own spaces with Koelnmesse and our stand construction partners.”

Hygiene Rules
Precautions here include extensive hygiene rules such as cleaning and disinfection at shorter intervals in all areas and the sanitary facilities, in particular. Also planned is the mandatory wearing of face masks across the entire exhibition grounds except when seated. If need be, FIBO will place face masks at the disposal of trade show visitors. Likewise, Koelnmesse’s modern air-handling systems with separate air supply and exhaust air handling contribute to high hygiene standards.

Distancing Rules
It goes without saying that the required minimum distance of 1.5m will be safeguarded at FIBO. This will be ensured by a limitation on visitors. If required, exhibitors’ spaces can also be enlarged to provide more freedom of movement for exhibitors and visitors. Accordingly, the aisles in all halls will also be widened and sufficient room will be created at the entrances, in waiting areas and at traffic hubs. A series of additional special regulations will also be introduced here. For conferences, workshops and lectures the seating plan and number of seats will be adjusted to protect all participants.

Monitoring and Guidance Systems
The aim is to avoid an accumulation of people at any time so that visitors also feel safe and in good hands at classic contact points such as food service establishments. Here, modern monitoring systems will help to constantly keep an eye on and – if need be – regulate visitor flows. The digital guidance system at Koelnmesse also comes in handy here. Furthermore, all exhibitors and visitors have to register in the run-up to the trade show. This ensures that the organiser can quickly identify contact persons in the event of a Corona infection.
